How Web 2.0 has changed the face of advertising.
Web 2.0 is the 2nd stage of Internet development. It is characterised as by the change of web pages from static and still to dynamic and fluid. This mean web pages are now has user-generated content and has allowed the growth of social media. For example when Facebook first started it was just a social media site but now it is one of the main hubs for corporate advertising.
Facebook has especially profited from web 2.0 as it allows the users of Facebook to see adverts especially tailored to their interests, meaning Facebook can accept advertising partnerships with several different companies. Using this strategy Facebook has made more than billions of dollars just by allowing for example news companies putting news snippets on their website attracting viewers to come to see more, or another example would be an advert for the newest UV glasses to help people look at screens.
Marketing from web 2.0 has been the greatest success since the creation of the Internet itself. Web 2.0 uses the cookies programs installed on every modern computer to scan your search history to discover what you are interested in. Now some would say this is an invasion of privacy but others say it is a way to broaden your horizons and discover something new which is the main idea of above the line marketing. This innovation of the Internet and the evolution of itself has now opened new paths to business marketing.
Web 2.0 uses the business audience targeting strategy to discover new clients to that business or product yet it also tries to restrain itself by not suggesting too much at once. It is only really used by companies that want to target certain people of maybe age or other factors to increase clients and their own company profit.
Web 2.0 uses both above and below the line marketing to target something specifically you will want as well as making a new suggestion that you might enjoy. Now it is not always perfect but the technology is fairly new and has only really been around since the new millennia.
